Pinkyotto windows in both Soho and the East Village feature this ensemble:
Hairy white shrug
High waist printed skirt
Pearls

It’s not a particularly beautiful outfit. The hairy white shrug makes it unique and eye catching but not necessarily tasteful. I’m not sure why it’s featured at both stores.

Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland
Queen of Hearts in Moschino greeting window viewers as Alice was greeted. The Queen’s card soldiers (who were painting the roses red…) stand next to her.

I would imagine Moschino to be worn by a darker version of Alice. Instead, the dress is on the Queen of Hearts. Perhaps the black dress has commanding power when worn.

Ports 1961–you would think it was founded in 1961. I feel tricked whenever I hear the brand name since it was founded in 2004! A luxury brand with a long history of exotic travels? That’s what they’re trying to be. So far, it seems to be successful. The creative director, Tia Cibani, was born in North Africa, and grew up in Vancouver. In addition, the company is based in Hong Kong. The store finally opened today–just in time to feed those hungry luxury consumers. :)

Remember painting butterflies when you were young? Where the art teacher would instruct you to paint half a butterfly on half a folded sheet of paper? and then close the sheet of paper and reopen it to get a symmetrical butterfly? Symmetry on the poster outside McQueen much like the symmetry at Stella.

Christmas Windows in NYC

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

With the onset of the Christmas shopping season, the NYC landmark department stores have unveiled their windows.

Bergdorf Goodman window displays are drawn from seasonal/monthly inspirations. Each window represents a month/months/seasons. The windows are packed with delicate trinkets along with luxurious dresses and coats to create a fantasy-like white wonderland.
