Moschino Money: Love is Free
Saturday, May 29th, 2010Moschino’s window features a mannequin taking money out of an ATM.
The screen says “Love is Free” and there is a ton of Moschino paper money on the ground that proclaim the same.

Neat window. Possibly commenting on the global economy?
Love may be free, but Moschino certainly isn’t. I can’t believe they designed and printed fake money (on both sides!) for this display.
Isabel Marant Soho
Tuesday, April 20th, 2010Mannequins in the mall of Soho
Sunday, March 21st, 2010Nighttime in the mall of Soho:
The new Jerome Dreyfuss store:
Bags in the sub-$1K range.
Decades Two pop up at Kiki de Montparnasse:
Beautiful Olive Dress…
Longchamp displaying ugly yellows:
Foiled interiors:
Door to People’s Revolution: Kell on Earth:
Comfortable linens at Eileen Fisher. It’s geared towards older women, but I would definitely consider wearing even if it makes me look “new age.”
Nothing exciting at Nicole Miller:
Red, one shoulder dress at Searle:
Ralph Lauren fishermen–made popular by those tv shows on the most dangerous jobs?
Clashy Custo:
Pleasant walk around quiet streets (Greene, Grand, Mercer…).
Spring (Window)shopping
Wednesday, March 17th, 2010…at Bergdorf’s.
The staff was taking down and setting up new windows…mannequins propped up against the wall–Narciso red dress with translucent rubber band like belt…
Textured leather…
Chado Ralph Rucci flesh toned dress and matching jacket.
Big cat head helps sell kids clothing.
Mary Jane peekabo Louboutins.
yummy.
Strange flapper exhibit.
Another Herve Leger–they sell like Coach bags.
Hieroglyphic dress.
Leathers.
Carmen San Diego coat.
When blacks don’t match:
I love Diners!
Fancy entrance to a restaurant in midtown.
Emma Watson and the Burberry Clutter
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010Plaids, ruched trenchcoat, metallics, belts…so much clutter on Hermione Granger.
Looks overly gaudy and cheap in the picture, but the khaki-ed mannequins look young:
It looks like Emma’s having trouble holding 2 bags while wearing a ruched trench. The foreground shows a more carefree dress + boots combo.
2 guys at once?
Really takes away the youth of the Harry Potter star.
I always enjoy Burberry Prossum when they branch out from their traditional looks. Especially with the Duchesse Silk Knotted Epaulette trench coat that does not have the signature Burberry look. It looks more like a Nicolas Ghesquière inspired version of Burberry. Christopher Bailey did a great job with the color and texture on this coat.
There’s really no excitement in Burberry‘s ad campaigns. Perhaps most of their clients prefer the old fashion Burberry trench looks…perhaps most of the revenue is driven by their ugly plaid bags…
Wait, here’s Emma in the Burberry campaign for V magazine…never in Vogue/Elle/Bazaar…
Abercrombie Skirts
Saturday, February 27th, 2010“as a fashion retailer ANF is susceptible to changing fashion trends. It missed out on two key trends during the first quarter of fiscal 2009–skirts and intricately patterned goods–which has contributed to a decrease in sales.” – wikinvest.com
A polka dotted blue skirt–front and center in the window.
Polka dots = extreme print for ANF, where everything is mostly in solid colors
I always wonder what kind of trends stores like Abercrombie would be able to pick up on. Cotton sweatshirts, tshirts, hoodies, tanks and denim seem to be what they stock every season. Ultimately, they are a fashion retailer and make money by giving their shoppers what they want.
“Missing out on trends is especially detrimental for teen retailers like Abercrombie, as its target demographic shops more frequently, adapts trends quicker and is more recession-resistant.” – CNBC.com
The 2010 skirts are very un-Abercrombie. The floral skirt below, for instance…
And a zebra print? ANF girls ride on horselike creatures, not wear them.
This is one ridiculous looking print:
Looks like someone puked a pomegranate cocktail over a yellow skirt.
ANF calling upon inspiration from Forever21? If they’re known for their solids and muted prints (stripes), why would anyone pay 3 x’s the amount for a skirt that could be found at Forever21? They certainly went overboard in offering a variety of patterned skirts.
It seems someone needs help with the ability to capitalize on trends and keep a consistent identity.
Matthew Williamson and his baby dolls
Friday, February 26th, 2010Similar palettes and similar prints season after season. The baby dolls with empire waists on every dress.
Anything new?
The windows never change at Matthew Williamson. He threw in the jumpsuit–probably because everyone else had one as well.
Using Gaga
Friday, February 26th, 2010I’m not quite sure what they’re doing at Jeffrey on West 14th.
Using Lady Gaga as a theme for their mannequins and store?
It’s not like her outfits are available. Nor are you able to look anything like her.
They put Lady Gaga hats (from that video that shows white spandexed monsters come out of white futuristic coffins) on mannequins that were dressed in Prada skirts and nice blouses.
I guess it’s a “fun” way to inspire their clientele.
Comme des Garçons Black
Friday, February 26th, 2010Across the street from 1 Oak, right below the High Line is CDG’s Black store.
I like how it’s monochromatic. There isn’t much in the collection–it can all be viewed from the window.
The store is located right below a huge, modern apartment complex. It doesn’t seem like a CDG area–the mama CDG store on W 22nd seems more appropriate.
