I always wonder what kind of trends stores like Abercrombie would be able to pick up on. Cotton sweatshirts, tshirts, hoodies, tanks and denim seem to be what they stock every season. Ultimately, they are a fashion retailer and make money by giving their shoppers what they want.

ANF calling upon inspiration from Forever21? If they’re known for their solids and muted prints (stripes), why would anyone pay 3 x’s the amount for a skirt that could be found at Forever21? They certainly went overboard in offering a variety of patterned skirts.

It seems someone needs help with the ability to capitalize on trends and keep a consistent identity.

I don’t know how it all happened, but I found myself listening to Nirvana every day this week. I’ve traced it back to scanning the Fashionista blog. There was mention of a film by the title of The Last 48 hours of Kurt Cobain and I watched it on YouTube.

I didn’t realize how Seattle Nirvana was. Most bands move out of the city they’re from and stay in LA or NY. The house Kurt Cobain killed himself in is only 15 mins away from my parents house. Then I found myself watching hours and hours of Nirvana unplugged.

I wish more people would dress like Kurt Cobain. The soft sweater, open collared shirt and printed t shirt–so comforting. Grunge has to make a comeback.

Even the colors are more soothing than the bright bold colors we’ve seen on every variation of the skinny pant.

People want what celebs have all the time. The obsession is easily transferred to kids/baby wear. When a celeb wears an accesorry/clothing item, their cache/personality/lifestyle is automatically transferred to the product. The apparel they dress their children with also carries the same cache/personality/lifestyle. It may also be more attainable. A pair of designer baby socks for $30? vs. a shirt/bag/sunglasses worn by the actual celeb for $500+? Kids are fashionable accessories.

It’s not like Mondrian on YSL—Yves himself came up with the concept and incorporated it into the dressed.

Fendi and Chanel are auctioning off 20 bags customized by contemporary artists: Jeff Koons, Kendell Geers, Tom Sachs, Francesco Vezzoli, Subodh Gupta, and Sylvie Fleury. The auction is to raise money for AIDS research. It is held on March 22nd during the Cannes film festival and all major celebs attend.

Last year the amFAR event raised $7 million for AIDS research.
