Bottega Veneta Gray Jumpsuit

Friday, November 26th, 2010

The bags were distracting. While viewing each look, my eyes naturally fixated on the handbags. I couldn’t see anything beyond.

It was hard to focus on the clothing.

However, this particular jumpsuit overpowered the clutch.

Charlotte Ronson Hat

Where can I get a hat like that for this winter?

Charlotte Ronson SS 2011 reminds me of early 90′s Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis. Best collection I’ve seen from her.

Alberta Ferretti SS2011

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

Alberta Ferretti creates clothing for fairy princesses, elves, nymphs and all magical creatures. For Spring Summer 2011, Ferretti had woodland fairies and nymphs walk down her runway.

Each model had streaks of bright emerald green eye shadow, wispy long hair and fair skin. One of my favorite colors is Ferretti’s featured shade of light forest green.

I also love the comfortable, non form fitting looks.

“There were some big fashion moments last week in Italy, like when you go to Prada, and wonder what’s she going to do this time, or at Dolce & Gabbana, and you are almost ready to cry.” – Carine Roitfeld in her interview with the NYTimes

SS2011: BCBG

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

I’ve always considered BCBG a wannabe design house. There’s always something not quite right–the angles of each cut, the fabric colors, textures…there’s something missing that doesn’t make them an actual design house. The clothing is at most 60-70% as impressive as real design houses. It just feels cheaper for some reason.

There was quite a bit of repetition. I liked the layered sheer fabrics for the latest collection. I would say the collection looks 65% fresh–something is missing to make the collection look impressive.

Here are my 2 favorite looks:

Everything else in the collection is a variation of these two dresses.

SS2011 Lyn Devon

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

It’s the end of summer and the beginning of NYFW!

Lyn Devon opens up the week with her classy designs:

Don’t know what the front looks like, but the back is pretty.

Prada S/S 2010 Handbags

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Now that I pass by Prada each morning, I’ve been noticing their hand bag collection.

tforia.com> Earlier last week> Prada's window full of perforated flats and handbag

tforia.com> Friday morning> luggage, canvas, lucite, crystal, and translucent plastic

Here are my favorites from their spring summer collection:

1. A canvas clutch with a Lucite/crystal opening, encased in plastic. It’s like a raincoat with a handles attachment for the clutch. Easy to carry through all sorts of weather–pretty and functional.

2. The perforated lunch bag. Great for hot lunches–lets the steam out with minimal damage to the perforated leather.

3. I first saw the translucent purple beach photo print bag in the window. It was encasing another canvas bag. Perhaps Prada is making a case for the handbag raincoat? Buy 2 bags instead of just one.

tforia.com

It’s great alone as a waterproof bag for the beach (minus the non waterproof canvas portions).

4. Prada has an array of reusable totes in their BYOB (“Bring your own Bags”) collection. The prints were too clashy. I like this plain hemp colored one. Very peasant like and modest:

5. A more “serious” tote. The Saffiano Lux shopping tote reminds me of a minimal Birkin bag. No belt.

6. Lastly, a large enough tote to throw a beach blanket in, the Saffiano Traforato Shopping Tote:

I’ve seen the same Nappa Gaufre tote (below) in most Prada media placements. They remind me of Miu Miu bags and seem too heavy for the summer. This flagship bag seems so different from the functionality and summery-ness of the other bags.

Krystof Strozyna Blazer

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Admiring this look on StyleBubble:

stylebubble.co.uk

I really love the gray comfy pants + blazer + hot pink top.

The lapels are what really drew me to this blazer. Krystof Strozyna, Spring Summer 2010.

I wouldn’t have picked the blazer out if I had seen the collection on the runway:

The yellow pants + yellow brown design create too much of a distraction. Feel the same about most runway ensembles–with so many pieces within one collection, it’s hard to pick out what’s beautiful.
