80′s Jumpsuit Pouf

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

I was in the mood for an 80′s movie when I went onto Hulu and found: Cocaine: One Man’s Seduction. The movie looked really funny, about a family oriented guy who gets sucked in by the drug of the 80′s. Really funny, he just couldn’t control himself. I did not get to finish the movie, it became too repetitive–guy kept getting seduced.

I did come across this outfit during a beach house scene–the scene where the main character first gets seduced.

Here, a partygoer wears a cloudlike, poufy jumpsuit.

It looked really comfortable and summery. Vintage is always extra poufy, whether it’s sleeves or pants. Today’s jumpsuits are more streamlined, and definitely for thin people. Although fashion comes around, it’s never quite the same.

The dresses that Anna Karina wears in Pierrot le fou reflect her character, her sense of adventure, and her freedom from social order. The clothing details–buttons, lace, frill, texture and movement of fabric–all become part of Marianne as she runs away with Pierrot.
